Lessons Learned
She walks down a dark road lights dance with the moon no destination yet she walks She listens she hears crackling under footsteps Clanging of garbage cans as trash is taken out for mornings pickup. Crates of recyclables lay by stoops. Wind rustles leaves her golden locks seductively unkempt branches crack as squirrels playfully jump & forage for winters slumber. Bunnies skiddishly hide in gardens. Rain droplets begin to fall washing away the soot of the day, soot of yesterday, soot of the past. Her shadow hoovers like a gaurdian in the night protecting her, holding her, comforting her. She walks down the dark road but not alone there is calm in the dark theres life in the dark theres peace in the dark Theres even protection After darkness comes light After the rains come rebirth The sun will shine brighter Birds bid winter adieu Squirrels rest & reap the fruits of harvest the trash is gone She can bask in the sun's warmth She still walks alone by choice To listen To hear To learn
